ACCOUNT
Do I have to register on Auroflex?
Yes, you have to register to place an order. Users don’t have to register to request a quote.
PRINTING
Do you do variable data printing?
Yes, we use the Mosaic and Collage technologies. For variable data, we suggest you request personalised advice from our team.
Which software can I use to create my printing file?
We use Illustrating for designing and setting up graphic files.
Can I change the printing file?
You can ask, if printing of the label hasn’t started yet.
What format should I use to send printing files?
The ideal formats for sending graphic files are: PDF and AI. The label must be in four colours using the CMYK model. All RGB designs will be converted.
What brands of paper do you use for printing?
Our main suppliers are Fedrigoni group, Avery Denninson and UPM Raflatac.
What is the print master? Is the customer entitled to receive the print master?
Print masters are the originals (e.g. screens for screen printing, plates for hot prints) used to print the labels. It is very difficult to calculate the cost of a printing plate when producing a quote, so only a standard charge is applied when the order is made. If you wish to receive the print master you will have to pay any costs in excess of this charge.
My file contains Pantone colours. Will they be reproduced effectively during printing?
Our printing systems enable us to reproduce Pantone colours with a precision of from 95% to 100%. To find out whether your Pantone colour is within this range, contact us at info@auroflex.it
Where can I find specific information about the media on which my labels can be printed?
You can refer to our Materials page, which contains all the specific information you might need.
Can the printed product be used in contact with foods?
No, sorry but that’s not possible. The media used for our labels must not come into direct contact with foods.
SERVICES
Do you do consecutive numbering?
Yes, we do provide this service.
What is the FSC?
FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification guarantees the traceability of materials from FSC certified products and is essential for use of FSC labels on products.
What is your shared purchase option?
With shared purchase, you can buy the label’s graphic design but it will still be available in our product catalogue.
What is your exclusive purchase option?
With exclusive purchase, you can buy the label’s graphic design and it will be removed from the selection available in our product catalogue at once.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
What is the surcharge for a non-standard label cutting die?
The price is 100 €.
Why is the colour of the labels not the same as the one I see on my computer screen?
It is particularly difficult to obtain the same colour effect on a physical product (printed labels) as in an image on a monitor, even if specifically calibrated professional monitors are used. We therefore advise you to use the C or U version Pantone colour sets to view a colour closer to the end result. In all cases, there will be slight differences in the same Pantone colour if it is printed on different paper stocks, as each paper has different characteristics (e.g. white point, absorbency, surface finish).
What’s the difference between CMYK and RGB?
CMYK or four-colour printing is the colour method used for high-quality printing, while RGB is the method used for files intended for the web.
Why are UV protection varnishes used?
UV varnish provides the printing with further protection against scratches or colour contaminations. You can choose from different types of varnish in the quote phase.
What are adhesive labels on rolls?
Adhesive labels on rolls are labels wound onto rolls or reels to enable automatic application to containers (such as bottles or jars) using special machines (labellers).
How many labels are there on each roll?
There’s no set number; the number of labels per roll required can be specified during the quote phase.
What is a variant?
Variants are graphic variations in labels which do not affect their dimensions or any finishes.
Why are some embellishments not available for some print media? Not all finishes can be applied to all media: for example, dry embossing is not possible on plastics as this would not create the desired effect.
Where can I find specific information about the embellishments I can use on my labels?
You can refer to our Materials page in the footer, which contains all the specific information you might need.
GRAPHIC FILE
What is the correct colour system for use in the file?
The file must be in four colours using the CMYK model. All RGB designs will be converted and the resolution is 300dpi.
Can I review the graphic file with an Auroflex expert? Yes, this is possible. Technical consulting is one of the services available for purchase. Visit the InsuperServices page and choose the service you want.
Are my files checked after I upload them?
Of course. Once you’ve sent the order and uploaded the files, our pre-printing office will check that the file is compatible with the printing process. If not, we’ll get back to you by email.
Can you make changes to my graphic file?
Yes, check out the Insuperservices page and purchase the package you need.
USEFUL HINTS
When and how should I use matte white?
White should be used on all media which are not white themselves (e.g. clear, or gold, silver or black paper). In all cases, the way white is used depends on the desired effect.
Which colours can I use for hot stamping?
We use the hot stamping systems supplied by Kurz and the colours available are glossy gold, matte gold, glossy silver, matte silver, pink foil, bright blue foil, bronze foil, red, green, orange, steel, copper black, liquid pink, combo green, pebble, beige, blue element, mysterious ruby, polarlight and platinum.
Which colour profile must I use?
The colour profile used is the CMYK four-colour standard. The RGB profile is not supported. Printing with Pantone colours is not supported.
What are the cutting die shapes available?
4 types of dies: Rectangular or square, Circular, Oval, Irregular or contoured.
My product is going to be in contact with ice/blast chiller/freezer. What kind of paper must I use?
We recommend barrier paper to prevent the label from becoming wrinkled and damp.
How can I check if the label size is suitable for the container?
Cut out the label to real size and apply it to the free part of the container to make sure you have chosen the right format!
How do I choose the dimensions of the adhesive label for my container?
Every container has a technical info sheet and most of these sheets specify the surface area available for labelling. Given the tolerances required, the dimensions of the label are always smaller than those of the labelling surface. You can request the technical info from the container supplier. In all cases, our Consultant or Customer Service will be happy to help (possible charges and their form will be decided).
DEFINITIONS What does Polar mean?
Non-polar surfaces are surfaces such as PVC and HDPE, which have low surface energy (LSE), meaning that adhesives do not stick to them easily, making them more problematical.
DEFINITIONS What does Non-Polar mean?
Polar surfaces are surfaces such as PET and glass, which have high surface energy (HSE) so that labels stick to them more easily.
